Duo tell reporters in Ireland that they are also looking forward to taking on Shay Given in tonight's clash in Dublin...
The Albiceleste were soundly beaten by Germany in the quarter-finals and the Republic lost out in controversial circumstances in the play-off against France.
Manchester City’s Zabaleta said: “They had a really bad experience with the qualifying at the last World Cup against France but anyway they have a great national team with great players in the squad. They all feel fit, with so many players playing in the Premier League and it will be a great game.”
Newcastle midfielder Gutierrez says that his team will be looking to get the World Cup disappointment out of their system.
“I think that we have a good squad with good players and we want more in the World Cup but Germany played a fantastic game against us, and you can do nothing about that [now] so you have to prepare for the next [games],” he told reporters before training outside Dublin.
Both players were also looking forward to facing Shay Given. Gutierrez knows Given from his time at Newcastle and Zabaleta is a current team-mate.
Zabaleta said: “I know Shay, and Richard Dunne as well because I played my first year with him. They are fantastic players. Shay is a great person, a very good goalkeeper so we’ll really enjoy the game.”
Gutierrez added that he was aware of the speculation surrounding Given’s future at City: “I read something about Given, that he has a problem at Manchester City now. It’s difficult now because I know Shay and he’s a fantastic goalkeeper but football has these things. It’s good to meet him now and we want to score past him.”
