Quilmes Break Argentine Transfer Record With 19th Pre-Season Arrival - Report
The incorporation of Kansas City's Santiago Hirsig seals the Cervecero's place in the history books...
By Daniel Edwards
Quilmes fans will have to get used to a host of new faces wearing the 'Cervecero' kit for the Apertura, as today's announced signing of Santiago Hirsig brought the number of new arrivals to an incredible 19 for the Primera new boys.
Ole reports that ex-San Lorenzo and Arsenal de Sarandi midfielder Hirsig agreed to sign for Quilmes on a year's loan from Kansas City Wizards, with the Argentine club also having the option to buy the player outright. No team has ever before signed so many players in an Argentine transfer window, as Quilmes prove they are willing to break the bank to avoid a quick return to the B Nacional.
As well as Hirsig some of the more notable names to make up the 2010 Quilmes squad include former San Lorenzo forward Bernardo Romeo and Paraguayan prodigy Juan Manuel Iturbe, who will spend a year on loan at the club but without the option to buy.
The full list of the Quilmes new boys is as follows:
Bernardo Romeo, Leandro Gioda, Nahuel Roselli, Charles Aranguiz, Hernan Galindez, Sebastian Martinez, Leandro Coronel, O. J. Morales, Gustavo Varela, Cristian Nunez, Juan Jose Morales, Santiago Raymonda, Ariel Broggi, Damian Leyes, Facundo Gomez, Gervasio Nunez, Patricio Fontanini and Juan Iturbe.
