Argentina To Host Spain In Buenos Aires On September 7
The world champions will test themselves in Buenos Aires against Diego Maradona's side as part of the ongoing bicentennial celebrations...
By Daniel Edwards
Clarin reports that the friendly was originally scheduled to be played in New York, but both federations agreed to move it to Buenos Aires and incorporate it into the South American country's bicentennial celebrations. Throughout 2010 the 200th anniversary of Argentina declaring its independence from the Spanish Empire has been celebrated throughout the country.
Spain will play their first match since winning the World Cup on August 11 against Mexico in Mexico City. The same day Argentina will take on Ireland in Dublin. The Albiceleste will also play a friendly on September 3 against so far unconfirmed opposition, most likely another South American nation.
