Veron: Cruzeiro Are The Favourites In Copa Libertadores Final

Ahead of the return leg, the Estudiantes captain believes their opponents have the edge...

Juan Sebastian Veron - Estudiantes de La Plata
Juan Sebastian Veron, who couldn't do anything as Estudiantes de La Plata were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Cruzeiro last week, feels that his team can still pull off a big upset in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday.

"Cruzeiro are the favourites, but on the field it is eleven against eleven. We will try to take advantage of deadball plays, something we didn't do in the first leg," said Veron.

"We are motivated, we are a team who run a lot, we are well physically and I think we will be in good shape if we play extra-time. I think Cruzeiro will attack more because they are at home, and have the support of their fans, but we have to take advantage of the gaps they leave and come out quickly to damage them with counterattacks."

Veron may believe that the Brazilians are the favourites, but he is very confident in the chances of his side. He also commented about the Chilean referee, Carlos Chandia.

"I like Chandia. He is a referee with lots of personality and he won't allow himself to be influenced by the voices of the crowd," he concluded.

Estudiantes will be hoping to lift the Copa Libertadores for the fourth time in their history.
