Joffre Guerron Set For River Plate Move
The speedy Ecuadorian is on the verge of moving to El Monumental...
"Guerron's case is practically done. The only thing that is left is for the contracts to be signed, and the agreement would be finalised," said Toni Munoz.
The departure of Guerron will be the fourth of Getafe this season, after that of Eugen Polanki, Vladimir Stojkovic and Jacobo Sanz. The three players moved to Mainz 05, Sporting Lisbon and Valladolid, respectively.
Guerron joined Getafe from Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito last season. He arrived in Spain as the Most Valuable Player of the Copa Libertadores, a tournament his team won for the very first time.
But despite his hefty transfer fee Guerron failed to live up to expectation, and the arrival of Michel put his position under further risk. Guerron also tussled with teammates, and this wasn't appreciated by the Getafe board.
At River Plate the Ecuadorian international will be provided with the opportunity to regain the confidence he had when at Liga. If he manages to find his form it will certainly improve his chances of being selected in the Ecuador squad for next year's World Cup, if they manage to qualify for the tournament.
