Boca Keen On San Lorenzo Defender Adrian Gonzalez
Los Xeneizes have confirmed interest in San Lorenzo right-back Adrian Gonzalez...
Adrian Gonzalez was recently offered to Boca Juniors and move looks a distinct possibility after the Argentine Apertura Champions expressed their interest in acquiring his services.
But any potential transfer will depend on whether Hugo Ibarra will decide to remain at the club next season. If he chooses to leave, then Gonzalez will likely be his permanent replacement.
Boca manager, Carlos Bianchi gave his approval for the signing of Gonzalez, but the club will have to better the offers expected to be made by Buenos Aires rivals Independiente and Racing Club.
Gonzalez is not only a gifted right-back but he is famous for his trademark free-kicks. He also has great leadership skills, and this has made him one of the most sought after players in Argentina.
But for Gonzalez to arrive at Boca, Ibarra will have to abandon the club. Ibarra's current contract will expire in June, and he could part ways with the Xeneizes if he is subjected to a pay cut.
According to reports, Boca playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme, a close friend of Ibarra, could influence his decision. Riquelme has already tried to convince the defender to extend his stay at the club.
