Claudio Lopez: Maradona Is Doing Things Well
The former Argentine international believes Diego Maradona has what it takes to lead Los Albicelestes to greater success...
"Maradona is doing things very well. The setback in Bolivia was very tough for all of us, but I think the situation will soon change," affirmed Lopez.
"The national team have sufficient material to do well. It is better for them to experience problems now, rather than during the months leading to the World Cup, which would be much more complicated."
In respect to the 6-1 defeat suffered by Los Albicelestes against Bolivia in La Paz, Lopez explained that they are "one-off matches" and they don't "reflect on the quality of any team."
"No matter what happened, I think they will turn around the situation in the next few matches."
As well as this, El Piojo referred to the conflict between Maradona and Boca Juniors midfielder, Juan Roman Riquelme: "I have respect for the Argentine national team shirt. What happens in the dressing room stays there."
Finally, the striker chose Argentina and Spain as the main candidates to fight for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
