The hard-working Colombian admitted that the Copa Libertadores was the objective of both the fans and the squad, but now they have to concentrate on league play.
"If we want to fight for the championship we have to win in Rosario," said Falcao, who affirmed that Los Millonarios have "a great responsibility" and are motivated about catching up to the league leaders.
Falcao, who scored River's winner in their 1-0 victory over Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy on Sunday, told the press that the match against Newell's will be "very difficult", not only because of their home advantage but also because Roberto Sensini's team are in much need of the points.
"We know that Newell's are very tough at their stadium, and they are also in great need of the three points," he said.
Finally, Falcao stated that River have to lift their game a great deal in order to gain some sort of consistency.
He said, "River must improve, but we know that we count with the necessary potential to fight for the title."
