Round two of the Argentine Clausura Championship treated fans to several upsets, including victories for Newell's Old Boys and Godoy Cruz, over Boca Juniors and San Lorenzo, respectively.

Newell's Old Boys picked up a huge 2-0 victory over Boca Juniors at the Bombonera stadium on Saturday.

The side from Rosario struggled early on in the match, but in the second period the match opened up, and Newell's claimed the three points, with goals from Diego Armani (60') and Mauricio Sperdutti (72').

Banfield continued their good run, with a narrow 1-0 win over Estudiantes de La Plata at the Florencio Sola stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Nicolas Bertolo, Banfield's star player last season.

In Saturday's other matches, Velez Sarsfield drew 1-1 with Argentinos Juniors and Arsenal de Sarandi stunned Tigre 2-0.

River Plate seem to have rediscovered their identity, after a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Rosario Central on Sunday. River fought back from a goal down, to win the match with goals from Martin Galmarini (62') and new signing Cristian Fabbiani (67').

At the Nuevo Gasometro, San Lorenzo fell to an unexpected 2-1 defeat to Godoy Cruz. A Jorge Carranza (2') own goal gave San Lorenzo an early lead, but in the 38th minute Gaston Aguirre reduced San Lorenzo to ten men and this greatly affected the side.

Second half goals from Ivan Borghello (53') and Leandro Caruso (80') ended up winning the visitors the three points.

Meanwhile, San Martin thrashed Independiente 3-0 with a hat-trick from Cristian Canio, and Gimnasia de La Plata edged Lanus 3-2.

Finally, on Friday Huracan cruised past Racing Club with a 4-1 win in Avellaneda, and Colon de Santa Fe sneaked a 1-0 victory over Gimnasia de Jujuy.
