Peruvian Striker Jimenez Moves To Godoy Cruz
Peruvian striker Roberto "Malingas" Jimenez has agreed to return to Argentine football with Godoy Cruz of Mendoza...
Peruvian striker Roberto "Malingas" Jimenez has joined Godoy Cruz of Mendoza, after not being taken into consideration by former club San Lorenzo de Almagro.
The former Lanus goal poacher, who played for Universitario de Deportes of his homeland last season, was keen on a move back to San Lorenzo, but the club's head coach, Miguel Angel Russo, told him he will have to move elsewhere for regular first team action.
Jimenez is expected to travel to Pinamar from Buenos Aires, to join his new teammates during the most intense stage of pre-season training.
Another player who could sign for the club is Chilean defender Ricardo Rojas of Colo Colo. While injured Colombian striker Jairo Castillo is expected to return to training at the end of January.
Diego Cocca's side will remain in Pinamar for 10 days, before moving to Tandil, where they will participate in a mini pre-season tournament with Chacarita Juniors, Arsenal de Sarandi and Quilmes. After that they will return to Mendoza.
As well as Jimenez, Godoy Cruz have reinforced their squad with Cristian Leiva and Sebastian Pinto. While Gonzalo Saucedo and Daniel Garipe have left the club.
