Carlos Ischia, the coach of Boca Juniors, admitted that Juan Roman Riquelme, the main protagonist in the 2-1 victory over Racing Club, has steered his side closer towards the title.
Riquelme scored both of Boca's goals in the crucial win at La Bombonera. The first of them was a penalty-kick, and the second, a spectacular volley.
"Roman can score himself, or he can set up one of his teammates. It is fundamental that he is in his top form, because he makes a huge difference," responded Ischia, when asked if Boca are Riquelme-dependant.
"(Riquelme) is a player with great quality, he is a national team player and he played in Europe," he added.
Ischia also praised Luciano Figueroa, who joined the club because of the injuries sustained by strikers Martin Palermo and Rodrigo Palacio.
"Luciano put in a great effort. He is just starting, and I was concerned that he might get injured. But he has experience, he holds the ball well, and he combines well with Lucas (Viatri) and Roman," he stated.
With only two rounds remaining in the Argentine Apertura Championship, Boca Juniors are the firm candidates to claim the title.
