The PSG defender was one of seven changes made by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for the Gillette Brasil Global Tour fixture at the Bird’s Nest Stadium and the 32-year-old was grateful for the chance to impress.
"This was our opportunity to show Felipao that he can count on us, which is really important,” Maxwell said.
Diego Cavalieri, Dede, Lucas Leiva, Lucas Moura, Ramires and Alexandre Pato all came into the starting line-up.
“This match was fundamental to us,” Maxwell continued.
“Now we have to think about the group, regardless of whatever we might want for ourselves individually. The assessment is for the coach to make at a later date.”
Brazil continue their preparations in the USA next month, meeting Honduras in Miami in November 16.
