The Cruzeiro defender is hoping that his second-half header will help him seal a place in the Selecao squad for next summer's World Cup
The 25-year-old was handed a starting role in central defence alongside David Luiz and sealed victory for the Selecao with a neat second-half header at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.
And the former Vasco man has expressed his delight at grabbing his first international goal, one he hopes will aid his quest for a permanent role in the Brazil squad ahead of next year's World Cup.
"I am very happy to score my first goal with the national team shirt,” Dede said. “It was a dream.”
"I had it in my head that this game was the biggest game of my life. To be part of the Selecao means a lot to player. Moreover, the World Cup fast-approaching. I am fully focused and very thankful for being here.
"I think I had a pretty solid game and even scored a goal. If I manage to keep it up then I think I can reach my goals. I'm relieved but I have to keep working every day in order to stay in the group."
