The Canarinho trainer once more ignored the 28-year-old for the national team despite some fantastic displays in the Brasileiro and was lighthearted about his absenceMano Menezes has jokingly brushed aside questions over his decision to leave Fred out of the Brazil squad for the forthcoming fixtures with Argentina.
The Selecao coach omitted the in-form striker, who previously voiced his unhappiness at being ignored by the national boss, from his domestic-based team to face Alejandro Sabella's side as they look to defend their Superclasico de las Americas crown next week.
When asked over his decision, the trainer revealed, after a joke at Fred's expense, that it was due to similarities with other players in the squad that he had been snubbed.
"I do not exclude anyone for having a strong opinion, I like those who have an opinion. I am not looking for nice guys, because my daughter is already married," Menezes said in a press conference.
"Luis Fabiano gives me another variation, Damiao is more similar to Fred and is already [in the squad]. I tried to bring in somebody different."
Brazil will face Argentina in Goiania on September 19 with the return leg being played in Resistencia on October 10.
