Zinho: Ganso to Flamengo deal impossible without investment

The sporting director has expressed his admiration for the Brazil international and called for third-party investment to make a transfer for the Santos star happen

Flamengo sporting director Zinho has called Ganso a "great player", but admits that without third-party investment, signing the Santos star would be impossible.

The Brazil international has been linked with a number of different clubs during the summer transfer window, but so far a move has failed to materialise.

Zinho expressed his admiration for the 22 year-old, telling Lancenet: "Ganso is a great player. I really wanted him at Flamengo, but we are not negotiating."

The 1994 World Cup winner did not rule out a transfer if the Brazilian club were able to find outside investment, however: "He is an expensive player and we are not able to sign him without a partner.

If any investor wanted to help, it would be different," he added.

The former Brazilian star also confirmed that Flamengo remain keen to add to their squad before the end of the transfer window.

"Nothing is set in stone," he said. " While the market provides business, we will be open and we can talk. The window is there and we still have time."
