Flamengo deny releasing Ronaldinho

It was claimed that the Rubro-Negro had parted company with the veteran playmaker, who is said to be keen to leave Rio de Janeiro after a series of disputes with Urubu officials
Flamengo director of football Zinho has dismissed a report claiming that Ronaldinho has been released by the club.

The Brazilian was left out of the squad for a friendly game in Piaui and a video then appeared on Youtube in which Rubro-Negro vice-president Paulo Cesar Coutinho slated the player's performances.

It was subsequently claimed that Ronaldinho, who is rumoured to be agitating for a move overseas, had been let go by Flamengo, but Zinho has now stated otherwise.

"At the moment, Ronaldinho still plays for Flamengo," the former Selecao star is quoted as saying by Globoesporte.

"[Coutinho] will comment on the video. But I can say that my friend was exaggerating when questioned by some fans [on the video].

"He is aware of that, but one wrong does not justify another, so we will also deal with that when we arrive back in Rio."

Ronaldinho caused controversy by failing to show up for training on Tuesday but Flamengo later claimed that the playmaker had requested an extra day off after his mother had been forced to undergo surgery.
