Home fans threw a banana at the young Brazil international and pelted other Peixe players with missiles, leaving the visiting side's coach furious at the lack of protection
The Peixe slumped to a 2-1 reverse in the opening match of their last-16 tie in La Paz, with two free kicks from Jhasmani Campos leading Bolivar to a memorable victory. Maranhao scored the only goal for the visitors, who will be hopeful of overturning the deficit in Vila Belmiro.
Speaking after the match, however, Ramalho focused on the missiles thrown at his players from the stands and blasted the Copa organisers for doing nothing to stop such treatment.
"What we cannot accept is the treatment that we have received here, Conmebol does not take any sort of stand on this. They threw stones, and a banana at Neymar, which was horrible," the trainer fired to reporters following the final whistle.
"I don't know if it was racism. You will have to tell me that."
Santos, the current Libertadores holders, will try to turn around their tie in the second leg, which will be played on May 10.
