Mundo Deportivo revealed that Cules head scout Albert Valentin was in attendance on Sunday at the Vila Belmiro, to watch the Peixe down rivals Corinthians 2-1. Neymar was one of the outstanding players, and scored a crucial second goal late on to confirm the victory after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
It is not the first time that the club have watched the 19-year-old phenomenon. Brazilian press reported in February that scouts from the Catalan La Liga winners were in attendance at the South American U-20 Championships in Peru, observing the young striker and his team-mate, Sao Paulo playmaker Lucas. Valentin is also in regular contact with on-loan forward Keirrison, currently a reserve with the Brazilian side.
Neymar is the third young South American talent to be singled out for special attention by the scout in this current tour of the continent. Valentin has also been to watch Boca Juniors forward Sergio Araujo, as well as Lanus' young goalkeeper Esteban Andrada- with a view to bringing them into the club's B team to learn their trade in Spain.
It has not been confirmed if Barcelona representatives will once more be present in the Vila Belmiro on Wednesday night, when Neymar and Santos take on Colombians Once Caldas in the second-leg of their Copa Libertadores quarter-final.
