The Emperor claims he has finally recovered the joy of life...

Adriano signed for Flamengo in May after terminating his contract with Inter Milan and has since been able to rediscover his form in his native country.

The 27-year-old has become the top scorer of the Brazilian league after netting his tenth goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Corinthians on Sunday.

He has been linked with a return to Europe, with Milan reportedly keen, but he has now committed himself to Flamengo until 2010.

"Flamengo are to me like a home, one that welcomed me very well," Adriano told GLOBOESPORTE. "I am trying to stay here, until 2010, so that I can find my way back in football and then I hope everything will go all right.

"In the future I will see. If I have to stay here, I will, if I have to leave, I will see. But today I am completely focused on Flamengo."

On the reported interest of European sides in his services, Adriano said, "I read in the papers. [Agent] Gilmar went to Italy that week to solve some things of mine with Inter, but he did not say anything to me.

"I read about it and I am very happy to have those offers. It is nice to know that I still have that importance in football. My goal is to continue like this at Flamengo to have a different mind if I have to return to Europe in the future," he noted.

Meanwhile, Adriano, who confessed that he is at 60 per cent of what he can do, added that he is pleased Brazil coach Dunga said he could call him up.

"I am feeling better by the day, I am very close to what I can do on the field," Adriano explained.

"Like Dunga said... everyone knows my football. If I am fine I can help the national team. And I am happy that he counts on me.

"I have to play good matches here at Flamengo so that I can return."

When asked about if he is a happy man now, Adriano said, "Absolutely. Always..."
