Internacional share top spot of the table after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Coritiba at the Beira-Rio stadium on Sunday. After a slow start Inter dominated their opponents and a superb second half hat-trick from Ecuadorian international Luis Bolanos gave them the three points.
The Porto Alegre-based outfit join Atletico Mineiro at the top of the standings with 17 points. Atletico have a slightly superior goal difference.
In Sao Paulo, the Paulista derby between Palmeiras and Santos ended in a 1-1 tie, while a frustrating scoreless draw was the final outcome of the Rio de Janeiro derby between crosstown rivals Fluminense and Flamengo. The match marked the departure of Fluminense attacker Thiago Neves, who will return to Saudi Arabia.
Sunday's other matches saw third-placed Vitoria thump Santo Andre 4-1 and Sport Recife climbed from the bottom of the table with an unexpected 3-1 win over Gremio.
Gremio fielded a number of reserves for the clash in order to keep their starters fresh ahead of the Copa Libertadores semi-final decider with Cruzeiro next week.

Meanwhile, Atletico Paranaense edged Corinthians 1-0 with a first half strike from veteran Paulo Baier. It was their second win of the season, and particularly important because last week they were held at home by Palmeiras in the final minute of the match.
Belo Horizonte giants Cruzeiro sneaked past Avai 1-0 with a goal from Ze Carlos. It was only Cruzeiro's third win of the season. The club are only a step way from progressing to the final of the Copa Libertadores, and for this reason rested a number of their key players in the league to concentrate on the international tournament.
In other matches, Barueri beat Atletico Mineiro 4-2 and Goias thrashed Botafogo 4-1.
