The president of Sao Paulo, Juvenal Juvencio, affirmed that Juninho Pernambucano is in the club's plans for the Campeonato Brasileiro.
According to Folha do Sao Paulo the president reunited with former Sao Paulo star Rai where they spoke about a possible transfer.
However, the player's representatives admitted that after leaving Lyon Juninho is contemplating a move to Qatar or to former club Vasco da Gama of Rio de Janeiro.
But the fact that Vasco currently find themselves in the Brazilian Serie B means that instead he could be tempted to try his luck at one of Brazil's top clubs.
Sao Paulo, on the other hand, are hoping to win their fourth successive Brazilian championship this year, and they also remain alive in the Copa Libertadores, a tournament they have won three times in the past.
Juninho, 34, won the French championship seven times with Lyon. At the club he scored 100 goals in 344 matches, a record that makes him one of the most important players in Lyon's entire history.
