Maxi Lopez Promises More Goals With Gremio
The 25-year-old Argentine striker promises to score more goals with Gremio this season...
Maximiliano Lopez affirmed that he has adapted to Brazilian football, and that he promises to find the back of the net on a regular basis for his club, Gremio of Porto Alegre.
In declarations to Radio Gaucha, the former Barcelona and Mallorca striker stated that a "centre forward has to score goals", and that he is hoping to be more consistent after having adapted to Brazil and having improved his fitness.
"It was a normal process, because I hadn't played for a few months. But I'm already adapted and I will be in better form," promised the Argentine, who joined Gremio from FC Moscow this season.
After having been criticised for his performances with Gremio by the local press and the club's fans, Lopez has earned more respect after scoring a goal in Gremio's 3-0 Copa Libertadores victory over Aurora of Bolivia.
Lopez will feature in Gremio's attack when they visit Universidad de Chile for the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday in Santiago. Gremio currently lead Group 7 with ten points, three more than the Chileans.
"It will be our most complicated match. Our opponents will play their hearts out. We will have to play very well to return home with a good result," he concluded.
