Dante relishing Thiago Silva/David Luiz duel

The Bayern Munich defender has praised his international team-mates but is determined to be one of the two starting centre-backs for Brazil at this summer's World Cup

Dante has welcomed the battle between himself and Brazil team-mates Thiago Silva and David Luiz as the trio bid for a starting berth in Luiz Felipe Scolari's side at the World Cup.

The Selecao - famed for their strength in the final third of the pitch - are currently blessed with an abundance of quality centre-backs and it remains to be seen which two players are given the nod this summer.

Dante had to settle for a place on the bench as Silva and Luiz started the Confederations Cup final victory over Spain in June, but the Bayern Munich man is confident of being first choice 12 months on.

He told Goal: "I’ve been a constant member of his squad, and have tried hard to win his trust and done well in the friendlies. If I keep my form with Bayern I will be able to secure my place, but it’s not confirmed yet.
"Thiago Silva does a great job, he is one of the best defenders in the world. Together with David Luiz, I have played with both of them, I am looking forward to being in the squad and then let’s see what the manager’s decision will be."
