PUMA has unveiled the new official home and away kits for the Italian national team that will be worn by Cesare Prandelli’s men for the first time in their friendly match against Spain on Wednesday and then up to and during the 2014 World Cup.
The new kits were presented by Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon alongside team mates Mario Balotelli, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Pirlo.
After the presentation in Milan, the home shirts were placed in the “Celebri-Amo La Maglia Tour” truck by the players. The 23 home shirts, which will ultimately be taken to the World Cup, will tour major cities in Italy including Milan, Napoli and Rome to give fans the opportunity the show their support to the team.
The design of the shirts is inspired by the traditional Italian handcraft industry. They have a bespoke look and feel with a slim fit and a tailored collar and placket. Final design details such as the tailor made looking crest and the exclusive FIGC font are inspired by traditional Italian craftsmanship.
Italy will be taking on England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D at this summer’s tournament in Brazil. They start the competition against Roy Hodgson's England on June 14.
