Spartak Moscow's Brazilian Striker Welliton Eager To Represent Russia
The promising youngster could very well represent Russian in the not so distant future...
The 23-year-old was crowned top scorer with 21 goals, but his performances appear to have gone unnoticed by Brazil national team coach Carlos Dunga. Therefore, Welliton could be tempted to switch allegiances.
"I won’t wait for a long time for an invitation to Brazil's national team in case I have an opportunity to play for the Russian side. If all necessary documents are ready and I get a concrete invitation, I would say 'yes' immediately and start playing for Russia," said Welliton to Sport Express.
"Nothing is impossible and Russia have everything necessary to win the World Cup before I finish my playing career. Players just need to have a huge desire to play football and the coaching staff should be responsible for their preparation.
"There is no doubt about it that I could have helped the Russian national team in Maribor. Thank God I didn’t face similar negative emotions, but to say that I was disappointed by Russia’s loss is an understatement."
