OFFICIAL: Anatoly Davydov Confirmed As Permanent Zenit St. Petersburg Coach
The caretaker boss has signed a permanent deal at Zenit...
Zenit confirmed on Saturday evening that Davydov has signed a deal until the end of the running season with the option of extension for another year.
Davydov took over from Advocaat on interim basis after Zenit gave the current Belgium national coach the sack in August. The former youth team coach guided Zenit to third place on the table in the past couple of weeks.
They have collected 40 points after 23 matches, seven points behind leaders Rubin Kazan. Zenit were ten points behind in seventh place when Advocaat was dismissed.
Reports from Italy last week claimed that Zenit had reached an agreement with former Roma chief Luciano Spalletti, while Roberto Mancini was also touted as a candidate at Zenit. However, these rumours have now turned out to be false.
