Spain striker Fernando Torres reflected on his matchwinning performance against Germany in the Euro 2008 final by deeming his side's victory as a win not only for La Furia Roja, but football as a whole...The Liverpool forward was deployed alone up front to meet Germany after an injury ruled strike partner David Villa out of proceedings.
Scoring the winning goal in the first half, Torres was taken off midway through the second and watched from the sidelines as La Furia Roja carried on his good work.
He remarked after the match, "The team that played better has been the champion.
"Justice was served, because the team that played better football - the one that's been best for the entire tournament - has been proclaimed champions.
"That's good for football, and it's also good for all Spaniards."
The mainly-young Spain side now have another target.
"We are going to enjoy this now, but we're ambitious and we're looking at the World Cup," concluded El Niño.
