Turkish midfielder Emre is still injured and has no chance of playing in tomorrow night’s semi final against Germany, Fatim Terim has confirmed.
Meanwhile on the injury front Nihat has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament through injury whilst Emre Gungor and Servet Cetin are also struggling to be fit to face Germany.
Now it has been confirmed that captain Emre will also be on the sidelines as he struggles to recover from a hamstring injury picked up in Turkey’s opening game against Portugal.
Speaking at a news conference, Terim confirmed the situation. He said: “With Emre, it's impossible for him to play.”
Terim also went on to pay tribute to striker Nihat, whose two late goals against the Czech Republic propelled his side into the semi final.
Discussing the striker, who picked up an injury that will rule him out of the rest of the tournament, Terim said: “Nihat is one of the best strikers in Europe. But I think we just have to look forward and accept the facts as they are. The players that replace the injured and suspended ones will do just as well. We are not looking for excuses.”
Turkey go into the match against Germany as clear underdogs and significantly weakened through injury and suspension.
However, after their late heroics in their last two matches they have reason to be confident. They will also be buoyed by the knowledge that they have a good recent record against the Germans, of their last three meetings they are unbeaten, having won twice and drawn once.
