The Brazilan striker believes that the Pentacampeoes are heading in the right direction despite only managing a 2-2 draw against the Three Lions on their own turf

Fred believes that Brazil are on the right track despite recording a disappointing 2-2 draw with England at the Maracana on Sunday.

The Fluminense forward opened the scoring for the Selecao only to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wayne Rooney turn the game on its head before a late Paulinho volley ensured the meeting ended even.

"We created many opportunities. Unfortunately the ball did not want to go in," he told reporters.

"Unfortunately it was not the result we expected, but we left with the feeling that we gave up, especially in the first half. It bothers some, but you can take the good points form the game.

"I think we deserved a win, especially for the opportunities we created in the first half. We had more than seven, six chances but unfortunately the ball did not go in the goal.

"We were able to maintain this pace of attack from start to finish. This reassures us and makes it clear that we are on the right track."

Meanwhile, Hernanes believes that his side were far better than England, who had to rely on breakaway chances to score.

"We played a good match; England defended very well throughout the game and took advantage of a counter-attack," he told TV Globo.

"The team have to be a little bit more careful not to concede these goals because the team was playing well, we know that in a competition it is important not to concede these types of goals if we want to be champions."
