Evra: France should be proud of us
Les Bleus full-back believes his country should be satisfied with the players after their performances against Spain and Italy while adding there is a togetherness within the squad
France left-back Patrice Evra insists that his country should be proud of their team after their recent results.Didier Deschamps' men left the Vicente Calderon with a point in their World Cup qualifier with Spain last month, and they continued their good run with a 2-1 win over Italy on Wednesday night.
As a result of this, the Manchester United full-back is demanding the support of the country's fans and the media.
"The French people should be proud of us," he told FranceFootball.fr.
"People enjoyed the result in Spain, it feels like a similar occurrence after the Italy game. When you play against Italy, you always want to win so it is a beautiful feeling. Yes we have been winning, but our goal is the World Cup.
"You can see the solidarity in the ground, even in difficult times. We work hard and make sacrifices for each other and the whole country feels a togetherness at the moment."
Olivier Giroud was also in a positive mood after the result.
He added: "It is very nice to have built on the good things we did against Spain and it is always nice to win, even friendly games. There is more confidence in the squad, perhaps facilitated by the fact we have playing away from home.
"Personally, I have not had too many opportunities to score, and to play every three or four days is new to me, but I am happy with my performances."
