The Liverpool midfielder will lead Roy Hodgson's men out in the international friendly against the side that they beat 3-2 in the Euro 2012 group stages just last summer.
Elsewhere Gerrard's club team-mate, Sterling, earns his first game after impressive form with the Merseyside outfit this season, and will become the fifth youngest man to turn out for England at 17 years and 342 days.
Everton midfielder Osman, 31, and Tottenham defender Caulker, 20, also join him in putting on the jersey for the first time at senior level, while Crystal Palace sensation Wilfried Zaha would also be making a debut if he came on from the bench.
Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson joins Zaha on the bench, indicating he has received international clearance from FIFA, while as expected Jack Wilshere is also amongst the substitutes.
As for Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been quoted praising Gerrard but also suggesting he moved away from Liverpool, starts in a attacking midfield role for the hosts.
The Football League is well represented in Eric Hamren's side, with the Three Lions set to face familiar names including West Brom's Jonas Olsson, Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson, Fulham's Alex Kacanikic and Blackburn's Marcus Olsson, while Celtic defender Mikael Lustig also starts.
