The Real Madrid midfielder bagged a goal and an assist against Iraq last Thursday, and his impressive form upon his international return has been rewarded with another berth in the Selecao’s XI.
Mano Menezes makes only one change to the side that trounced Iraq 6-0, with Leandro Castan replacing Marcelo, who was ruled out for three months after breaking his foot in training with the national squad.
Japan go into the match without a recognized striker in their XI, meaning that either Shinji Kagawa or Hiroshi Kiyotake will lead the line in a false nine role.
Keisuke Honda is the only change for Alberto Zaccheroni’s side from their 1-0 triumph over France, with Mike Havenaar having to be content with a place on the bench.
