The centre-back has talked up his younger club-mate, pointing out that the 23-year-old striker has looked sharp in trainingChelsea defender Gary Cahill has hailed his team-mate Daniel Sturridge's return to the England set-up and hopes he can be a success with the Three Lions.
England begin their quest for World Cup qualification on Friday in Moldova, with both Chelsea players eager to play some part.
Cahill told reporters: "Everyone knows about the talent that Daniel has and how sharp and dangerous he can be.
"It's great to see him here after missing the [Italy game] through injury and he's been lively in training over the last few days.
"It would be nice to see him do well."
Roy Hodgson's men face Euro 2012 opponents Ukraine at Wembley on Friday in their opening World Cup 2014 qualifier, and Cahill hopes they can get three points on the board.
He added: "We want to make a good start obviously and the aim and the goal is for two years’ time.
"But we've got two games now and the lads have played a few games at the start of the season so everyone is fit and ready to go, so I think just to make a positive start is the main message."
