The highly-rated Bayern Munich youngster has committed his international future to the German national side, despite his eligibility for TurkeyBayern Munich wonderkid Emre Can has declared his future to be with the German national side, despite his Turkish roots.
The versatile midfielder recently captained the Germany under-17 side to a third-placed finish at the youth World Cup held in Mexico.
Can has been linked with switching his international allegiance to Turkey, but the player has refuted such talk.
"I love playing for Germany and I would like to go all the way within the DFB," the midfielder told Sport1.de.
However, it would appear that several other members of Germany's under-17 side could represent Turkey in the future, according to former Borussia Dortmund player Erdal Keser, who works as a coach for the Turkish national side.
"Two, maybe three players from the Under-17 German side have agreed to play for the Turkish national team. The names I cannot publish yet as it could cause problems for the players," the 50-year-old told Turkish media.
The under-17 German side crashed out of the World Cup at the semi-final stage, losing to Mexico 3-2, although the nation defeated Brazil 4-3 to claim third place.
