Liverpol Star Steven Gerrard Admits England Needed To Regroup After World Cup 2010
Skipper encouraged by early signs...

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has acknowledged that the England's footballers needed to take a long, hard look at themselves after the World Cup in South Africa.
Fabio Capello's side had looked something of a shambles over the summer and Gerrard was releived that they have turned things round to an extent with two comfortable victories in their opening qualifiers for Euro 2012.
A 3-1 win in Basle on Tuesday evening followed Friday's convincing 4-0 home win over Bulgaria, but skipper Gerrard admits that the recovery is still a work in progress.
"I think all the players realised that over in South Africa it wasn't good enough so we needed to re-group," he told reporters.
"We need to stick together and try and raise the performance levels. I think over the last two games we have certainly done that.
"I just think we've re-grouped. Everyone was hurt and disappointed by letting the nation down over in South Africa.
"We know we have to put it right but it's important not to get carried away by these two results.
"It's going to be a long time and a long process before we're really back."
