La Roja take on the Albicelestes in Buenos Aires on Tuesday night, after ruthlessly despatching Liechtenstein in their inaugural Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday night.
Villarreal full-back Capdevila stated that because of the history of Argentina in international football and the great players they have, Spain always look forward to the match, and speaking at their training camp at Boca Juniors stadium, he said, “In history Argentina are better than Spain, but we are now on a roll and hope to continue this for a long time.
“I am very happy, and very proud, to have the opportunity to appear on this stage.”
Capdevila added that he was relishing the opportunity to face Lionel Messi, and praised the diminutive attackers’ performances for club side Barcelona as the season has begun.
He remarked, “Argentina are more than just [Lionel] Messi, but I see him playing with more joy with Barcelona than he has enjoyed with the selection. Messi is the best in the world and it is always more motivating to play against the best.”
