Sampdoria star Antonio Cassano spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport before Italy's Euro 2012 qualifier with the Faroe Islands about his desire to make up for lost time in the national side.
Cassano admitted his omission from the Azzurri squad was due to his own mistakes, but he is determined to keep himself in line this time around.
"I want to recover lost time but I am not taking the national team on my shoulders; Chiellini and De Rossi are leading the Azzurri," the striker began.
"I take full responsibility for the mistakes I made in the past. Now I have started well and I hope to continue on track, maturity comes with age.
"I used to think of shooting only, now I think of the team because I can't win games by myself. I am not Diego Maradona, although at I thought I was at first. Now I feel a stronger player because I have ten companions who help me."
