Hiddink picked up a win in his coaching debut for Turkey...

Turkey have defeated Romania 2-0 in an international friendly played in Istanbul as Guus Hiddink made the perfect start in his coaching debut for the national team.

Former Newcastle midfielder Emre gave the home side the lead in the 82nd minute, after he converted a spot-kick, sending the home crowd into raptures. Gokhan Gonul earned the penalty after latching on to a through pass before being brought down just as he was about to take a shot.

Turkey doubled their lead minutes later when Arda Turan unleashed a bullet from the 30 yards out.  The midfielder was allowed time and space on the ball, and with no one closing him down, he blasted home his side's second goal.

Hiddink was previously the coach of Russia, but moved on after failing to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
