Bari defender Leonardo Bonucci made a promising debut for Italy against Cameroon, despite the match ending in a scoreless draw.

The 22-year-old hopes that his performance will be the start of a long career in the Azzurri colours, but is taking it one match at a time.

"I believe that I played a good match, and put in a good performance," the Galletti defender told Goal.com Italia. "This is just a starting point for me...

"Playing with champions of this calibre makes things a lot easier. All I think about is doing well, match after match, and leaving it up to the coach to make the decision whether to play me or not," he added.
