Teams
Amelia - 2: As bad goalkeeping performances go, this is a contender for the worst of all time. Amelia was to blame for all three goals. The first he fumbled in, the second arose after he charged out into no-man's land, while the third was a penalty he comically conceded and then allowed to squirm under his body.
Santon- 6.5: Italy's best defender while he was on the field. The Inter youngster at least showed some energy going forward.
Legrottaglie- 4.5: A difficult evening against the New Zealand attackers. Hesitated on more than a few occasions.
Gamberini- 4 : Even worse than his central partner. Did not mark up at all on the set-pieces for New Zealand's first two goals, and he was also at fault for Killen's penalty.
Dossena - 5: Despite being involved in the second goal, Dossena is certainly behind Grosso, Santon and Zambrotta as left back options. Impulsive.
Gattuso- 5: Ringhio looked extremely short of match fitness tonight, and had his pocket picked on a number of occasions. Two games in four days took their toll on the Milan man.
Palombo- 5: It is a mystery as to why Palombo cannot replicate his superb Sampdoria club form with the Italy national team. Looked ordinary against an ordinary team.
Pepe- 5: Determination and effort does not make you a good player, and apart from running round like a headless chicken, Pepe offered little. Mystery as to what Lippi sees in him.
G.Rossi- 6: Excellent at the weekend, Rossi had a few lively moments but struggled linking up with Gilardino and was subbed at the break.
Quagliarella- 7: Provided the assist for both of Gilardino's goals, and this was the highlight of his evening. Earns his marks for this alone, as he did little else.
Gilardino- 7.5: Led the line and clearly had the beating of the New Zealand defence in the air, scoring with two well-taken headers.

NEW ZEALAND
Moss- 5.5: The keeper could not be blamed for the first three goals, although if you were to be picky you could argue that he should have pushed Montolivo's drive away from danger before Iaquinta's rebound winner.
Mulligan- 5.0: The full-back went AWOL for both of Gilardino's goals, allowing the man he was marking, Quagliarella, to provide two assists.
Vicelich- 4.5: Started well, but then struggled, and was skinned for Gilardino's opener
Boyens- 4.5: Like Vicelich, he had a sound opening 25 minutes before he toiled against Gilardino, and later Iaquinta.
Lochead- 5.5: Comfortably dealt with Pepe one-on-one, but cannot expect a high mark in a defence that concedes four goals.
Brown- 7.0: The captain led by example, and put in a number of tough tackles in midfield.
Bertos- 7.0: Distribution was excellent, and he provided the set-piece crosses for the first two New Zealand goals.
Elliot- 6.5: Did not stop running all game, covering every blade of glass.
Brockie- 6.5: Very lively in the opening 45, even producing a couple of nutmegs, although he tired after the break.
Smelz- 7.0: Caused the Italy defence all kinds of headaches in the first half, scoring the first goal. He then should have added a second, but shot inches wide.
Killen- 8.0: Killen's aerial presence and strength was too much for Legrottaglie and Gamberini. The Celtic man scored twice, and also won the penalty for his second goal.
