Robson The Latest Scots Dropout

Celtic midfielder Barry Robson has added his name to Scotland's long list of absentees ahead of tonight's friendly with Argentina at Hampden Park.

Barry Robson has withdrawn from the Scotland squad for tonight's clash with Argentina at Hampden Park after picking up a groin strain in training.

The Celtic midfielder becomes the seventh player to pull out of the contest through injury with Darren Fletcher, Craig Gordon, Kenny Miller, Ross McCormack, James Morrison and Steven Fletcher already out.

Robson may well have been confident of landing a starting spot given the lack of competition for midfield places, but will now have to watch the game from the sidelines.

National manager George Burley has already had to call up Lee Miller and Scott Robertson as cover due to the disastrous run of injuries.

It has been confirmed that captain Barry Ferguson will start, as well Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor, but Burley now has an uphill task picking a side capable of competing with a team ranked sixth in the world.

The friendly international will be the first match in charge of the South Americans for new head coach Diego Maradona.
