Argentina will have to begin their new era under Diego Maradona without their two key forwards and two highest profile players.

After agreeing to omit Barcelona’s Lionel Messi for tonight’s friendly against Scotland, Los Albicelestes have been dealt a further blow with the news that Atlético Madrid’s Sergio Agüero has had to abandon his team’s training camp. He will rush back to the Spanish capital to attend to his pregnant fiancée, Giannina Maradona.

El Diego’s youngest daughter was not scheduled to give birth until February 2009, but Marca has reported that she is currently having complications with her pregnancy and has been rushed to the local hospital.

Maradona will now not only have to make do without his top two strikers for his very first game in charge of the national side, but he will be also preoccupied with the health of his daughter and grandson.
