Trabzonspor are close to parting ways with striker Teofilo Gutierrez.
Gutierrez allegedly left the city without permission from the club, citing health issues.
"Teofilo had told Gunes that he has health problems over the phone," Sener revealed in a press conference, as reported by Hurriyet. "The coach wanted him to join training, but he did not. And we had a notary public record his absence. In the morning, he and his family flew away.
"Our manager told him that this can be arranged. But he insisted on returning to his country for [medical] treatment. Gunes is, however, very disciplined about these matters.'Either he will pay back the money or he will not be able to play football,' he said. And I agree with him," Sener concurred.
"He saw tolerance from coach Gunes that was denied to everyone else. We flew as far as Colombia to get Teofilo. Of course, we are sorry about how this ended, but remain pleased with our other players.
"Such things happen in football teams. If a team is strong and it has plenty of good players, it will not be affected by such losses," concluded Sener.
