Turkish Side Ankaraspor Go To CAS After Relegation Decision Stands
Ankaraspor will take their case to CAS after the Turkish FA have upheld the decision to relegate Ankaraspor to the second division...
The
Arbitration Board on Tuesday upheld the Turkish Soccer Federation (TFF) and
Professional Soccer Disciplinary Committee's (PFDK) decision to
relegate Ankaraspor to the second division because
of their shady dealings with another Turkcell Super League side,
Ankaragucu.
However, Ankaraspor Chairman Ruhi Kurnaz was furious with decision and has made it clear that he will not accept Ankaraspor's fate just like that. Kurnaz will go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) with the case.
“Laugh or cry, or a combination of both, I don't know. This is really sad indeed. I feel bad for the players. The harshest punishment on a football player is to stop him from playing football," said Kurnaz to Today's Zaman.
"However, that's the verdict we have here, and that makes me very sad. Think about the foreign players who aren't allowed to play in the second division.
"We fought for our rights in Turkey, be we were denied our rights. Now we will be seeking our rights abroad,” he stated, alluding to the fact that the case will now go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. “And the saddest thing is that we have been forced to take this course in seeking our rights."
TFF Vice Chairman Luetfi Arıbogan announced the sentence for Ankaraspor. According to TFF decisions, previously played matches will be forfeited in favour of Ankaraspor's opponents and the team will forfeit its remaining games.
