Nihat Kahveci To Join Besiktas From Villarreal
The Turkish hitman is on the verge of a return to his former club...
Prolific striker Nihat Kahveci is set to depart Villarreal for Besiktas, according to the Istanbul club.
The 29-year-old is officially in negotiations with his former side, whom he left in 2002 to begin a highly successful spell with Real Sociedad in Spain.
From there he went to Villarreal in 2006, and while his time at the Madrigal has been plagued with injury, he retains a formidable goalscoring record.
This has persuaded his boyhood club to part with a fee reportedly in the region of €4.5 million to bring the Turkish international home.
It is expected that Nihat will sign a three-year deal over the coming hours to make the deal official.
Nihat failed to score a league goal last season in what was a campaign massively ruined by injury, but the previous season saw him net 18 times in 25 league appearances.
