Rijkaard: My coaching career is over

The 51-year-old former Barcelona boss who left his role as Saudi Arabia boss last year says he has no desire to ever return to the dugout
Former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard says his career in the dugout is likely over.

The Dutchman, who led Barcelona to two league championships and a Champions League title during his five years in Catalunya between 2003-08, has been out of work since leaving his role as Saudi Arabia boss last year.

And Rijkaard has said it is unlikely he will ever coach again.

"As things stand right now, I won't become a head coach again,” he told Voetbal International. "I have no desire to make a comeback.

"I'm grateful for everything I have achieved in football but now I'd rather do other things, go and watch games and enjoy discussing them afterwards.

“I have no desire to be 60 years old and standing on the side of the pitch.”

Rijkaard also had spells with the Dutch national team, Sparta Rotterdam and Galatasaray during his 15-year coaching career.
