Roda and ADO shared the spoils as they played out a 0-0 draw at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion on Friday night.

Roda immediately hit on the counter-attack with Amin Affane finding Sanharib Malki down the right flank with a pin-point pass. The Syrian then cut back to Mitchell Donald who blasted towards goal but his effort was tipped over the bar and the game ended goalless.

Ajax saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end on Saturday night as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Vitesse.

Thomas Bruns was caught in possession outside his own box by Dries Mertens who then squared it to Time Matavz his pass found Luciano Narsingh who made it 2-0.

The game was killed off by midfielder Kevin Strootman as he latched onto a Narsingh through-ball and beat the encroaching Remko Pasveer before nicking it under the goalkeeper.

Mertens played a key role in Matavz’s goal as he chipped it to Narsingh at the back post and the former Heerenveen star squared it to the Slovenia international who rounded off the scoring after 81 minutes.

NEC made it five games unbeaten as they came back from a goal down to beat Groningen 2-1 on Sunday.

The hosts took the lead after 11 minutes as Michael de Leeuw pounced on the rebound of a Virgil van Dijk header and scored from close range.

Groningen had a chance to extend the lead just after the restart but Genero Zeefuik’s header bounced off the post.

Just as the sides looked set to share the spoils, the visitors stole the three points as Michel Breuer sent a cross into the box for Geert Arend Roorda who volleyed into the net.

Heerenveen moved up to 10th place with a 2-1 win over Zwolle, who remain third from bottom in the league.

The home team had to wait until the 71st minute to make it 2-0 courtesy of Daniel de Ridder as he took advantage of a poor header from Rochdi Achenteh which evaded goalkeeper Diederik Boer and the Heerenveen striker was on hand to tap into the empty net.

Joey van den Berg reduced the deficit as he converted a penalty late on but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as the hosts took the three points.

Bottom club VVV provided the shock of the weekend in the Eredivisie as they beat AZ in a match in which all three goals came in the final 11 minutes.

AZ dominated the game from the start and should have gone in ahead at the break but failed to make good use of their possession.

The Venlo club looked much better after the restart and had an opportunity to net the opener when Esteban spilled a Bryan Linssen shot but Robert Cullen could not finish it.

Goals from Danny Verbeek and Nemanja Gudelj secured a second consecutive victory for NAC as they came from behind to beat RKC 2-1.

The Breda club got off to a good start but some defensive sloppiness lead to RKC taking the lead after just two minutes as Teddy Chevalier rounded goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar and rolled it over the line.

RKC pressed in search of an equaliser throughout an exciting second period, but NAC were able to hold onto their lead.
