Netherlands international Fer undergoes knee surgery

The Twente midfielder will be unavailable for a number of weeks due to a knee injury, and will consequently miss the World Cup qualifier against Hungary

The Twente star picked up the knee problem in Oranje's 2-0 2014 World Cup qualifier win over Turkey on Friday, and will be out of action for between two to six weeks due to the knock.
"From now on, I will concentrate on my recovery and I'll come back stronger," Fer commented on the official Twente website.
The 22-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Dutch squad for Tuesday's qualification match versus Hungary, and is also set to miss Twente's Europa League game against Hannover.
Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal called up AZ mifielder Adam Maher as Fer's replacement as the Dutch aim to keep up their perfect qualification record.
