AZ wonderkid Maher open to Ajax move
The attacking midfielder has previously been linked with a transfer to PSV, but he has admitted that a move to the Amsterdam ArenA would be an option as well
AZ starlet Adam Maher has made it clear that he sees Ajax as an interesting option if they show an interest in signing him, despite being turned down by the Eredivisie champions in the past. The attacking midfielder was previously linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Barcelona and PSV following an impressive 2011-12 campaign, and he is desperate to make the next step in his career.
"Ajax turned me down on three occasions at their special talent-days before I joined the AZ academy some seven years ago," Maher stated to NUsport.
"It's not easy to judge someone on a day like that. Plus you can really develop in one year. That's why Ajax are still an option for me if they ever show concrete interest in me.
"I don't have a preference between Ajax and PSV. PSV were the first club to show genuine interest. I was an Ajax fan as a kid, though, and I still think it is a nice club. Ajax will always be Ajax."
Maher's contract with AZ runs until the summer of 2015.
