Denmark's Schone keen to lose '12th man' tag

The midfielder has spent a large portion of his international career to date kicking his heels on the bench, but he is hoping it will be a different story in Poland and Ukraine

Lasse Schone has admitted that he is desperately hoping to lose his tag as Denmark's '12th man' during Euro 2012.
The NEC midfielder, who is to join Ajax on a free transfer in the summer, has been involved in Morten Olsen's side for the past three years, but has only amassed eight caps during that time.
However, having secured a move to the newly-crowned Eredivisie champions on the back of a fine season in Nijmegen, Schone is hoping that he will be afforded more game time by his country in Poland and Ukraine.
"With Denmark I'm often the '12th man'," he told Goal.com. "So I hope the coach is watching me now!"
Schone is also keen to prove that he is a perfect midfield foil for Christian Eriksen, amidst suggestions that coach Frank de Boer could struggle to accommodate both men in his starting line-up.
"Christian is indeed a rival, but we have previously shown that we can play together with the Danish team," he reasoned.
Schone added that he would be overjoyed if he is imminently joined in Amsterdam by Bram Nuytinck, with Ajax said to be keen on signing his NEC team-mate.
"I would love it," he enthused. "Bram has developed well at NEC and could definitely come to Ajax."
The 25-year-old Schone has spent his entire professional career in Netherlands, having joined Heerenveen from Danish outfit Lyngby as a teenager.
